Claire is designed to be self-hostable end to end: the API, Postgres, Redis, the Matrix homeserver, and the bridges all run from this repository’s compose files.

The short version#

  1. Create your environment file

Copy server/.env.example and set your own values. Nothing in this repository contains working credentials.

  2. Start the stacks

    Terminal
    bun run docker:up

Or run the compose files directly if you are deploying them to separate hosts.

  3. Apply the database migrations

Everything in supabase/migrations/, in filename order.

  4. Point the clients at your API origin

Mobile and desktop read the origin from their environment; nothing is hardcoded.
